Infestation
Nests may be under house siding, in trees, and in the soil around houses. Workers go long distance to find food, they are predators of bees, flies, and other flying insects.
Identification
Yellowjackets are also called hornets and bald faced hornets; they are yellow and black, black and white, brown and yellow. They build large nests, but they are used only 1 year; the queens overwinter and form new nests and colonies in spring.
Control
Use fast-acting aerosol to treat aerial nests, and large amount of liquid for ground nests. Work at night, with red light, wear protection.
