Infestation
These small ants are usually found around the outside of houses; colonies are in the soil, where these ants feed on honeydew produced by aphids that are feeding on the roots of plants.
Identification
They are brown to yellowish brown; colonies produce swarmers in the spring and fall, and are often mistaken for termite swarms.
Control
Colonies close to house or other building can be controlled with granular baits, or liquid applied to nest site.
