InfestationFound near doors at ground level; in basements, and enclosed porches; they usually curl and die inside because it is too dry for them. They come in from the outside and do not infest houses. They feed on decaying plants, and sometimes get into wet wood. IdentificationFlattened and dark grey to black, shiny, many legs and short antennae. They are related to crayfish, and are not insects. ControlRemove excess mulch from around doors; seal thresholds. Spraying mulch or the foundation may help control, but the most effective method is reducing their harborage. |
