Infestation

Small brown beetles may be found in flour, meal, mixes, and pasta noodles. Adult beetles may be found in cabinets or on counters; sometimes found in other rooms of the house.

Identification

Brown to reddish brown, about 1/8 inch long, short legs; larvae are yellowish white, but are not usually seen in infested food. Beetles are active all year.

Control

Remove and discard infested food material; spray empty cabinets with pyrethrins; allow to dry before replacing food in cabinets; vacuum cabinets and use pheromone sticky traps to monitor and control.
