InfestationStored food, such as cereal, flour, meal and cake mixes can be infested; they may be seen on book shelves and around paper. Prefer humid locations where they can use mold and fungi as food. IdentificationVery small, light color, and difficult to see; wingless and with long antennae, often run in and out of small cracks and crevices. ControlSpray pyrethroid in non-food areas; use pyrethrins to spray food cabinets after all food is removed; vacuum infested sites to remove food debris and the psocids living in crevices along shelves. |
