InfestationUsually in structural (pine) in crawl space and attic; wood may be new or old; powdery frass falls from holes, frass is gritty; inactive infestations may have frass falling from holes. IdentificationSmall, round holes in surface, may have frass around the opening and below hole. ControlPyrethroid liquid spray to surface of infested wood, apply to point of run-off; inject pyrethroid into infested wood; into into the galleries and into sound wood to create a chemical 'fence' around the infested wood. Residual activity of the chemical is 10 or more years. |
