Infestation

Indoor infestations, many small nests scattered in all rooms; ants forage year-round; feed on protein food, such as meats, fats, cheese, but also sugar. Common in hospitals and health-care facilities.

Identification

Light brown, abdomen dark brown, two nodes before the abdomen; antenna have three large segments at the end (club).

Control

Baits must be used; do not use sprays -- this will only fragment the small colonies and make infestation worse; baiting may require several months to give control. Replace baits often.
