InfestationIn basements and other cool and damp locations; around outside of apartment buildings on sidewalks, at garbage at night. IdentificationShiny black, and with short wings (male) or with no wings (female); nymphs brown, dark brown; active from early evening to night indoors and outdoors. ControlUse pyrethoid spray to treat surfaces in infested areas in spring; use gel baits in spring and summer, re-apply when eaten. Adults die in late summer, and infestations decrease; they overwinter as large nymphs and molt to adults in early spring. |
