InfestationAdult mosquitoes in the yard or around the outside of the house. Usually present during summer and fall. Some species begin biting at sundown, other bite during the day. IdentificationMosquitoes are small flies that become active when there is little wind; they are attracted to the carbon dioxide and heat that people produce. ControlRemove standing water from around the house; check gutters, bird baths, cans and other containers. A fog with pyrethroid early in the morning or early evening (at dusk) may give some control. Use repellents with DEET. |
