Infestation
Adults and larvae in food cabinets or crawling on counters, floors or walls of kitchen, food storage sites, feed on stored foods, dry pet foods; also attacks animal products, such as leather.
Identification
Beetle dark brown to black with pale band across back; larvae uniform brown with long hairs along body and long hairs at tail end.
Control
Remove and discard infested food; vacuum sites to remove scraps and larvae in cracks; spray food sites with pyrethrins; use pyrethroids in non-food areas.
