Infestation
Several species of ants invade buildings in search of food; most of these species nest outside in soil around the foundation perimeter. They forage in the kitchen for sugar and meat, and workers often make trails.
Identification
House ants are usually small, and active in the warm months; swarms occuring outside.
Control
Baits are the best method for colony elimination, but baits may be slow acting; liquid baits are effective indoors, granular baits are used around the outside perimeter.
