InfestationThese beetles are often found in cabinets infesting such foods as noodles, dry pet food, and dry flowers. They are active year round but populations often peak in the fall. IdentificationThe antennae are distinctly clubbed, and their body is covered with fine yellow to golden hairs; larvae are C-shaped and found in the food source or crawling free. ControlThe best control method is to find the infested food and discard it, then vacuum the cabinets; a light spray of pyrethrins, use a 3% dilution to kill exposed adults and larvae. Replace material in cabinet when spray is dry. |
