InfestationThe caterpillars of these small moths feed on organic fabrics, such as silk and wool; the small adult moths are rarely seen, they do not fly often, and do not come to lights at night. IdentificationThe caterpillars of 'case-making' species make a tubular case on the surface of fabric; other species do not make a case. Adults are small, pale brown, and weak flyers. ControlThe best strategy is to dry-clean all clothing infested or that can be infested; a spray of pyrethrins to closets may be effective. Cedar provides no protection or control. |
