Infestation

Larvae found in food cabinets, in clothing closets and drawers attacking wool and leather materials; the brown 'cast skins' found in large numbers to give false sense of a severe infestation.

Identification

Small brown larvae are banded brown/yellow, and with long hairs around the body and at tail; adults small and round, mottled black/white, larvae and adults slow moving in cabinets.

Control

Remove, clean, and/or discard infested material; use pyrethrin spray in food areas, use pyrethroids in clothes closets, drawers; sticky traps with pheromones can monitor and control infestations.
