InfestationExposed wood on decks, eaves and soffits, siding, and logs of log houses can be attacked. Bees are active in the spring, make the holes by chewing into the wood. IdentificationRound holes, 1/2 inch in diameter; several holes may be in one location; usually return to the same site for several years; females may share entry hole, but have seperate gallery. Males may defend the nest site, but they can not sting; females not usually aggressive. ControlApply liquid or dust pyrethroid to entry hole; apply liquid into hole to treat the gallery, plug the hole after treatment. |
