Infestation
These dark-brown flies, with dark red eyes, are usually found around decaying organic material, and not around fruit or vegetables. They can be found around drains and garbage sites throughout the year.

They have a dark brown body, and their eyes are not bright red, but dark brown to red; they do not circle around fruit or vegetables, but prefer decaying organic matter.
Control
The best control is to find the breeding site, and remove this material; in drains use one of the biological drain cleaners.
