InfestationUsually in bedrooms, but may be in other rooms; harborage is the wood bed frame and along the wall under the baseboard, and behind picture frames. They bite arms and legs at night; like mosquito bites there is a swelling and itching. IdentificationRounded, no wings, brown to reddish brown, slow moving; may gather in small to large groups; infested site and crushed bugs have distinct odor. ControlTake apart bed frame; treat with pyrethroid spray or aerosol, treat baseboard and floor near the bed. Check attic for abondoned bird nests or bats -- a related species may move into rooms and bite people. |
