LIQUID ANT BAITS - Ants eat mostly liquid food, they usually crush granules or pieces of food in the mandibles to get the liquid. The worker ants in a colony share food by feeding each other along the trail or when they return to the nest site.

Liquid ant baits use the food-sharing behavior to spread an insecticide in throughout the colony, and also to the queen. When many of the colony have a lethal dose, the colony begins to die and can be eliminated.

Liquid baits are often slow-acting, but they are the most effective because they eliminate the queen and other reproductives in the colony.
